Christian iconography; or, The history of Christian art in the middle ages
A scholarly survey of medieval Christian art by French archaeologist Adolphe Napoléon Didron, translated by Ellen Millington and published in London by H. G. Bohn in 1851 for antiquarians and art historians. The line engravings copy manuscript miniatures, frescoes, seals and carvings: haloed figures, many-winged seraphim, the Trinity, and hand-of-God motifs, usable as clean outline ornament and symbol reference.
