Modern American locomotive engines; their design, construction and management. A practical work for practical men
Emory Edwards's 1883 manual on the design, construction and management of American locomotives, published in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for railroad mechanics, enginemen and shop foremen. The plates are line engravings and hatched sectional cuts of injectors, cylinders, valves, boilers and firebox rigging, with letter keys throughout, giving designers cutaway machine diagrams, dense cross-hatch textures and small annotated parts.
