A drawing manual for mechanics, engineers and architects, adapted by William Johnson from the French treatises of the Armengaud brothers and Jules Amouroux, and issued in Philadelphia by H.C. Baird in 1863. The plates are engraved geometric constructions and machine drawings: gear-tooth layouts, involute and cycloid diagrams, shafts, couplings, waterwheels and valve bodies, rendered in fine ruled line with lettered reference points, dashed construction lines and light tinted washes that designers can lift as ready-made technical diagrams.
