The Civil engineer and architect's journal, scientific and railway gazette
A London trade monthly begun in 1837 and published by William Laxton, addressed to practising civil engineers, architects, and railway men. The wood-engraved plates are working sectional diagrams — arched vaults and bridge abutments in hatched masonry, gear trains and valve assemblies, electromagnetic apparatus in plain frames — with lettered keys and flow arrows, useful as technical line stock and cutaway patterning.
