The Locomotive
A technical periodical issued by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company from 1867 in Hartford, Connecticut, reporting on boiler explosions, locomotive practice and inspection for engineers, plant owners and insurance men. The plates are line engravings of machine parts in section, with dense diagonal hatching, dimension arrows and fraction labels, centerlines and lettered callouts, plus views of wrecked boilers and shop equipment; useful as ready-made diagram vocabulary, hatch textures and hand-lettered measurement marks.
