The Locomotive
A technical periodical issued from 1867 onward by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut, for boiler owners, engineers, and inspectors concerned with steam plant failures. The plates are plain line engineings: riveted plate sections in diagonal hatching, circles marked W for loads, and dimension arrows with inch figures, useful as ready-made diagram grammar, arrowheads, hatch fills, and italic letter labels.
