The new art; a study of the principles of non-representational art and their application in the work of Lawrence Atkinson
A 1922 London monograph by Horace Shipp arguing the case for non-representational art through the sculpture, paintings and drawings of the English Vorticist Lawrence Atkinson, written for art readers and collectors. The plates are halftone photographs of plaster and stone carvings and flat geometric compositions, giving designers hard-edged faceted masses, zigzag and chevron silhouettes, and grey tonal gradients usable as abstract forms or cover shapes.
