How to, a book of tumbling, tricks, pyramids and games;

Butterworth, Horace · 1899 · Chicago, The author · 185 pictures

An 1899 self-published instruction manual by Horace Butterworth of Chicago, teaching tumbling, balancing tricks, human pyramids and games to gymnasium instructors, students and athletic clubs. The 185 figures are brushy pen-and-ink outline drawings of boys and men in shirts and knee breeches mid-throw, mid-handstand or stacked in pyramids, each isolated on plain ground with a few ink strokes for the floor, useful as loose gestural silhouettes and motion poses.
