On the application of cast and wrought iron to building purposes
An engineering treatise by the Manchester millwright and bridge builder Sir William Fairbairn, published in London by John Weale in 1857 for architects, builders and ironmasters. The plates are hard-line engravings: sections and plans of cast-iron columns, beams and floor arches, with dimension lines, letter keys and figure numbers that can be lifted as technical-drawing texture or diagram ornament.
