A drawing manual for engineers, machinists and architects, compiled by the Armengaud brothers with Jules Amouroux and translated by William Johnson, issued in New York by Stringer & Townsend in 1857 for students and working draughtsmen. The plates are precise line drawings of gearwheels, shafts, water wheels and mill gearing, in plan, section and elevation, with construction lines, dimension scales and pale wash shading that suit diagram collage, pattern making from cogged rims, and technical line borders.
