A self-instruction manual in mechanical drawing by Joshua Rose, published by Henry Carey Baird in Philadelphia in 1889 for apprentices, machinists and draughtsmen working without a teacher. The plates are line engravings of geometric constructions, projections and machine parts, built from thin continuous lines, dashed projection lines, hatched shading and small italic letter keys, with figure numbers set below; usable as diagram vocabulary, technical line texture and lettered annotation.
