A trade manual on metalworking compiled by Oliver Byrne from Holtzapffel, Bergeron, Leupold and other sources, published in Philadelphia by H.C. Baird in 1851 for working smiths, founders and machinists. The 150 wood-engraved figures are line diagrams of vices, clamps, swages, furnaces and forge hearths, drawn in plan, section and elevation with dotted centre lines and letter keys, useful as spare technical linework or as parts for diagrammatic collage.
