Experimental science. Elementary, practical and experimental physics
A home-laboratory physics manual by George M. Hopkins, published by Munn & Co. in New York in 1890 for amateur experimenters and teachers building their own apparatus. The 530 wood engravings show batteries, induction coils, lantern projectors, rails and levers on bare tabletops, many with a gloved hand at the controls, usable as cutout instrument silhouettes and hatched-shadow vignettes.
