A sea atlas and pilot guide for the West India navigation, printed in London in 1775 by Mount and Page from charts credited to John Thornton and William Fisher, made for merchant and naval captains working the coasts from Hudson's Bay to the Amazon; the copy scanned came from John Adams's library. The engraved charts give fine-line coastlines with hatched shore shading, depth soundings, radiating compass roses and rhumb-line grids, blank inland space, and scrolled title cartouches with small figures, useful as line-engraved map textures, ornamental labels and directional devices.
