Architect and engineer
Architect and Engineer was a monthly trade journal published in San Francisco from 1905 for West Coast architects, engineers, and building contractors, mixing project reports with advertising for materials and equipment. Halftone photographs show postwar commercial and civic buildings in raking light — brick and glass walls, deep eaves, window canopies, storefront entrances — usable as flat grey-toned architectural stock with strong shadow geometry.
