The little gold mine. Conklin's handy manual of the mechanical arts and house plans ..
An 1889 American trade handbook issued by Laird & Lee of Chicago, combining workshop recipes and mechanical-arts instruction with a catalogue of small house designs for builders, carpenters and prospective home-owners. The plates are wood-engraved elevations of frame cottages with shingled gables, bracketed porches and fish-scale siding, paired with lettered floor plans giving room names and dimensions; useful for period house silhouettes, hatched shingle and clapboard textures, and plan diagrams as flat graphic shapes.
