Making advertisements and making them pay

Durstine, Roy S. (Roy Sarles), 1886-1962, John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History. NcD · 1920 · New York : C. Scribner's sons · 27 pictures

A 1920 trade manual on advertising practice by Roy S. Durstine, published in New York by Scribner's for agency men, copywriters, and business owners, and now held in Duke's Hartman Center collection. The line drawings and small wood-engraved vignettes show office scenes with typists and dictating executives, street crowds in top hats, suburban houses framed by foliage, and half-length figures gesturing mid-sales-pitch, useful as spot art, chapter headpieces, and period business caricature.
