Sloan's constructive architecture : a guide to the practical builder and mechanic
A builder's manual by Philadelphia architect Samuel Sloan, published by J.B. Lippincott in 1859 for carpenters, masons and practical mechanics working from measured instruction rather than theory. The plates are fine-line engravings of framing sections, cornice and column profiles, sash and door joinery and octagonal roof plans, lightly tinted in buff and grey with lettered keys, offering precise construction line work, moulding silhouettes and annotated diagram layouts.
