The art of weaving, by hand and by power, with an introductory account of its rise and progress in ancient and modern times
A technical manual on hand and power weaving, written by Clinton G. Gilroy and published in New York by Baldwin in 1844 for weavers, mill owners and manufacturers. Engraved plates show looms in elevation and section, harness and heddle assemblies, and warp-threading diagrams in which hundreds of fine ruled lines fan from a narrow point into broad bands, alongside one loom shown weaving a figured panel of vases and a seated figure.
