Architect and engineer
A San Francisco trade monthly begun in 1905 and issued by Architect and Engineer, Inc. for West Coast architects, engineers, contractors and building-product suppliers. The plates are coarse-screen halftone photographs of recently finished buildings — long glazed classroom wings, folded and butterfly roofs, blank brick and corrugated end walls, raw graded earth at the foundations — useful for flat mid-century massing, window-mullion rhythms and grainy grey-black tonal fields.
