Architect and engineer
A monthly West Coast building trade journal published in San Francisco from 1905 for architects, engineers, contractors and building-product suppliers, carrying project reports, specifications and advertising. The plates are halftone photographs of finished buildings — banks, schools, apartment blocks — shot flat and frontal in grey tones, with balcony corridors, window mullion rhythms, planting beds and blank street foregrounds useful as mid-century modern structural pattern.
