Architect and engineer
A monthly trade journal for West Coast architects, engineers and builders, published in San Francisco from 1905 and read for building news, specifications and project reviews. The plates are coarse-screen halftone photographs of mid-century schools, civic buildings and houses—brick walls, mullioned window bands, cantilevered canopies, sunshade louvers and entrance stairs—useful for grainy architectural textures, flat grey tonal fields and repeating structural rhythms.
