Advertising and selling; principles of appeal and response
A 1920 applied-psychology textbook by Columbia professor Harry L. Hollingworth, published by Appleton in New York and London for advertising men, salesmen, and students of persuasion. Its plates are reproductions of period magazine advertising, reprinted as coarse halftones: oval-framed portraits of women, a hand gripping a card, loose pen sketches of interiors, all with visible screen dots and blown-out contrast that suit collage and texture work.
