A 1910 teachers' handbook of graded exercises and games issued for the Philadelphia public schools, compiled by William A. Stecher, then the city's director of physical training. The halftone photographs show a single boy in dark knit tights and jersey demonstrating arm swings, trunk bends, and lunges against a blank studio wall, giving designers clean silhouetted figures, sequential pose sets, and soft grey backdrops easy to cut out.
