Appleton's dictionary of machines, mechanics, engine-work, and engineering
A two-volume American reference dictionary of machines, mechanics and engineering published by D. Appleton in New York in 1869, compiled for engineers, mechanics and manufacturers. The plates are wood-engraved sectional elevations, plans and shop scenes of turbines, lathes, water wheels and mill gearing, with lettered callouts and fine hatching that suit line-art diagrams, technical patterning and radial vane motifs.
