The American house-carpenter; a treatise on the art of building, and the strength of materials
Robert Griffith Hatfield's builder's manual on carpentry construction and the strength of materials, issued by John Wiley in New York in 1873 for working house-carpenters and architects. Line engravings give lettered geometric diagrams: stair and arch layouts, roof framing, joints and mouldings, many shaded with dense hatching that reads as flat texture blocks against plain white plates.
